Answer to Question 1

B

Feedback
A Student nurses do not operate in the same capacity as an unlicensed person and therefore their standard is not compared with the standard of an unlicensed person.
B Student nurses are expected to perform as professional nurses (i.e., as an RN would in providing safe patient care).
C The statement A standard similar to, but not the same as, that for the staff nurse with whom she is assigned to work is not a true statement. Staff nurses may serve as preceptors, but that does not excuse the student from performing at the level of an RN.
D If a patient is harmed as a direct result of a student nurse's actions or lack of action, the liability for the error is generally shared by the student, instructor, hospital or health care facility, and the university or educational institution.

Answer to Question 2

B

Feedback
A It is not reasonable to expect that a patient's support system will meet all of the patient's needs.
B A support system of family, friends, and colleagues who listen, offer advice, and provide emotional support benefits patients experiencing stress.
C Not all patients experiencing stress want their support systems nearby, so it is not realistic to say, When you are experiencing stress, it is always comforting to have people who care about you nearby.
D Although individuals in the patient's support system may have experienced stress, their suggestions may or may not pertain to the patient's situation.
