Answer to Question 1

B
The nurse should first attach new tubing and begin running in normal saline at a rate to keep the vein open, in case any sorts of medications need to be delivered through that IV site. The existing tubing should not be used because that would infuse the blood in the tubing into the patient. It is necessary to preserve the IV catheter in place for IV access to treat the patient. After the patient has been assessed and stabilized, the blood can be returned to the blood bank.

Answer to Question 2

A A benefit of most biobehavioural therapies, such as meditation, is that it reduces irritability. Aggression is an unlikely response.
B Delusions are not a result of biobehavioural therapies.
C Many biobehavioural therapies, such as meditation, reduce insomnia.
D A person who has a strong fear of losing control, or who has experienced sensations of loss of control, may perceive meditation as a form of mind control and thus may be resistant to learning the technique. Some patients are sensitive to meditation and require shorter sessions than the typical 15 to 20 minutes.

There can actually be a 25-hour time difference between certain locations in the world. The International Date Line passes between the islands of Samoa and American Samoa. It is not a straight line, but "zig-zags" around various island chains. Therefore, Samoa and nearby islands have one date, while American Samoa and nearby islands are one day behind. Daylight saving time is used in some islands, but not in others—further shifting the hours out of sync with natural time.
