Answer to Question 1

B
As people age, their circadian clock shifts, causing the person to phase advance. This is com-mon in older adults and often is the reason behind the complaint of waking early in the morning and being unable to get back to sleep. People with phase advance get sleepy early in the even-ing (e.g., 8 or 9 PM). If they go to bed at that time, they will sleep for about 8 hours and wake up around 4 or 5 AM. However, when people with advanced sleep phase syndrome stay up until their customary 10 or 11 PM, their bodies still awaken at 4 or 5 AM.

Answer to Question 2

D
Assess for caregiver stress, such as tension in relationships with family and care recipient, changes in level of health, changes in mood, and anxiety and depression.
