Under no circumstances should KCl be given in an IV push. A direct IV infusion of KCl may be fatal. IV administration of KCl requires dilution in solution and infusion over a period of time.

You should use a plastic bag, which will prevent exposure of skin or mucous membranes to the contents. The other answers prevent health careacquired infections.
