Answer to Question 1

D
The preoperative phase begins with the decision to have surgery and ends when the patient enters the operating room. The intraoperative phase begins when the patient enters the operating suite and ends when the patient is admitted to the postanesthesia care unit.

Answer to Question 2

B
Aging skin tends to be drier. Sweat gland activity is diminished. The skin's connective tissue, collagen, and elastin are reduced, which means the skin loses firmness and so wrinkles. Skin aging also occurs with exposure to oxygen-free radicals that are waste products from chemical reactions in the body as well as with exposure to certain food and environmental sources. An infant's skin is thinner and more permeable to moisture in the environment.
