Answer to Question 1

ANS: 2, 3, 4, 5
Using a bladder or cuff that is too narrow or too short, wrapping the cuff too loosely or uneven-ly, resting the arm below heart level, and repeating assessments too quickly all contribute to a falsely high systolic reading. The rapid deflation of the cuff and an ill-fitted stethoscope will likely result in a falsely low systolic reading.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6
Persons with a family history of hypertension are at significant risk. Obesity, cigarette smoking, heavy alcohol consumption, high blood cholesterol and triglyceride levels, and continued expo-sure to stress are risk factors linked to hypertension. Medication compliance, while important, is related to the management of hypertension, not prevention.
