Kegel exercises increase the tone and sensation of the pelvic floor (pubococcygeus muscle) for the female client. Vaginal dilation will not increase the tone and sensation of the pelvic floor. Stopping urination midstream may create a backflow of urine into the bladder, predisposing a person to infection. Sensate focus ex-ercises do not increase muscle tone.
