Answer to Question 1

ANS: A
Qualitative research is based on a constructivist philosophy, which assumes that reality is composed of multiple socially constructed realities of each person or group and is therefore value laden, focusing on personal beliefs, thoughts, and feelings. Constructivism assumes an approach that is inductive (Newman, 2000). Inductive reasoning generalizes from specific facts. Qualitative research usually results in data expressed in words, often in the form of a narrative.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: D
Quantitative research usually produces data in the form of numbers. Experimental research explores the causal relationships between variables. Experimental research examines whether one variable has a cause-and-effect relationship with another. Quasi-experimental research examines a causal relationship between variables, but it may not meet the strict guidelines of experimental research. Qualitative research is based on a constructivist philosophy, which assumes that reality is composed of multiple socially constructed realities of each person or group and is therefore value laden, focusing on personal beliefs, thoughts, and feelings.
