The most significant adverse effect of alpha blockers is orthostatic hypotension. It can be partic-ularly severe with the initial dose of the drug.

ANS: D
A CBC and differential should be obtained before starting therapy, then every 2 weeks for 3 months, and periodically thereafter. Therapy should be stopped if the neutrophil count falls to below 1000/mm3.
