Answer to Question 1

ANS: C
In general, prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) drug therapy is directed at prevention of ill-ness and disease, cure, alleviation of symptoms, or palliation. Prevention of OTC drug-related complications is of primary concern to the health care provider. Cure is the relief of the signs and symptoms as well as eradication or elimination of illness. Supportive therapy helps alleviate symptoms of certain illnesses, conditions, and diseases that threaten other body systems. The ob-jective of palliation is to relieve or alleviate a patient's symptoms, but it does not provide a cure.
