Answer to Question 1

ANS: A, B, C, D, E, F, G
In addition to pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic variables, there are variables that influence a patient's response to drug therapy. The variables include general state of health, life-span con-siderations, body weight, sex and genetics, body rhythms, psychosocial considerations, dietary considerations, smoking and alcohol intake, environment, drug additives and bioavailability, dosage and number of drugs administered, and the administration routes and techniques. Alt-hough the patient's literacy level and psychiatric history may influence his or her adherence to the medication regimen, there is no evidence that these factors will actually affect physical response to drug therapy.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: B
Synergism describes the results of two drugs whose combined effects are greater than the sum of each drug acting alone. The term is usually reserved for situations where the two drugs are acting at different sites or have different mechanisms of action. One of the drugs, the synergist, in-creases the effect of the second drug by altering its absorption, biotransformation, distribution, or elimination.
