LPNs/LVNs may be asked to find medication for physicians to use to inject and produce local or regional anesthesia. They may occasionally give IM or prepare IV preoperative medications. But primarily LPNs/LVNs may hear the surgeons or anesthesiologists discussing general anesthesia or read about other IV medications that were given during surgery.
