Answer to Question 1

ANS: D
Inhaled tobramycin can cause tinnitus, but does not cause hearing loss. Hoarseness is a common side effect. An intravenous aminoglycoside can cause hearing loss and is not used chronically for cystic fibrosis. Hearing loss will not occur with inhaled tobramycin. Inhaled tobramycin does not increase the risk of renal toxicity.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: D
When preterm delivery cannot be prevented, injecting the pregnant patient with glucocorticoids can accelerate fetal lung maturation. Glucocorticoids do not improve cognitive function, neuromotor development, or physical size in the fetus.
