Glucocorticoids increase the number of circulating red blood cells and polymorphonuclear leukocytes.
Glucocorticoids reduce the numbers of lymphocytes, eosinophils, basophils, and monocytes.

Intravenous administration of colchicine can be especially hazardous, causing bone marrow suppression, renal failure, hepatic necrosis, seizures, and death.
Visual disturbances are not associated with IV administration of colchicine.
