Answer to Question 1

D
Research suggests that depression may be caused by an imbalance of brain chemicals called neurotransmitters (e.g., serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine). Communication between neurons in the brain occurs by the movement of these chemicals across a small gap called a syn-apse. Neurotransmitters are released from one neuron and cross the synapse where they may be accepted by the receptor sites on the next neuron. When neurotransmitter levels decrease or be-come imbalanced, the neurons may be less able to communicate with each other, which may lead to depression and other mood changes.

Answer to Question 2

B
A common side effect of diuretics is hypotension and patients should be advised to change posi-tions slowly. Patients should also be taught the signs of hypotension such as dizziness and light-headedness.
