Answer to Question 1

B
Most patients with depression are treated as outpatients; however, when a person has suicidal thoughts (also called suicidal ideation) and particularly if the person has a suicide plan, hospita-lization may be required.

Answer to Question 2

Increased risk for suicide and lack of pleasure in life are characteristics of major depression. Persistently low moods are characteristic of both major depression and dysthymia.
