With allopurinol therapy, continued gouty attacks can occur during the initial treatment phase. Which other medication can be used to prevent these attacks?

Allopurinol may also cause a gouty attack during the initial treatment phase. This is easily pre-vented by prophylactic use of colchicine.

Vertigo may develop with the use of any of the tetracyclines; however, vertigo is more common with the use of minocycline.
