Aspirin toxicity in children may be manifested by acidosis, hyperthermia, and respiratory de-pression. These symptoms are associated with the development of Reye's syndrome in a child who concurrently has a viral infection, such as chickenpox.
Toxicity from penicillin would cause bronchoconstriction, hypotension, urticaria, and other signs of anaphylaxis.
Growth suppression occurs with prolonged use of glucocorticoids.
Kernicterus may result as an adverse effect of sulfonamides in neonates.
