Answer to Question 1

D
A few days after treatment with permethrin, dead lice and remaining live lice, along with nits, should be removed with a fine-toothed comb. It is not necessary to try a different product or to retreat with permethrin until 9 days after treatment. Eradication of head lice does not require shaving or cutting the hair.

Answer to Question 2

C
When antigens bind to antibodies on mast cells and basophils, chemical mediators of hypersensi-tivity reactions are released. Although hypersensitivity is an acquired response, mast cells and basophils do not play a role in other acquired responses. An autoimmune response occurs when the immune system fails to discriminate between self and nonself. Transplant rejection occurs when the MHC molecules of the donor are different from those of the patient.
