Answer to Question 1

B, C, D, E
Feedback:
Indications include prevention and treatment of venous thrombosis and pulmonary emboli, treatment of atrial fibrillation with embolization, and diagnosis and treatment of DIC. Heparin is not given to patients with hemophilia because the drug would worsen bleeding.

Answer to Question 2

C
Feedback:
Insulin therapy is the best choice for patients with diabetes during pregnancy and lactation, which are times of high stress and metabolic demands. Oral antidiabetic medications are contraindicated during pregnancy so metformin, acarbose, and glyburide are not the best choices.
