D. Instruct client about coughing and breath holding when asked to do so during the cardiac catheterization procedure. Coughing can sometimes eliminate potentially life-threatening supraventricular dysrhythmias that may occur during the procedure.
A. IV sedation should not cause loss of consciousness.
B. Dye causes a feeling of warmth, flushing, or a metallic taste shortly after injection.
C. Client may experience some chest pain, and there may be a severe hot flash that is quite uncomfortable but lasts only a few seconds.
