Answer to Question 1

C
Remove the pouch. If the patient uses a two-piece system, remove the pouch but leave the barrier attached to the skin. Position the patient sitting, if possible; gravity facilitates the flow of urine. Sterile gloves are used for the actual catheterization. Clean gloves are all that are necessary for removing the pouch.

Answer to Question 2

B
B. A foam mattress does not move and is therefore static.
A. Water in a mattress is moving, so the mattress is dynamic rather than static.
C. The air in alternating air mattresses moves, making this a dynamic device.
D. Air-fluidized mattresses incorporate air and fluid support and are dynamic rather than static.
