Sulfonamides are usually bacteriostatic and require intact host defenses for completeelimination of infection. Immunosuppressed patients are not necessarily folate deficient. Thereis no increased likelihood of developing bacterial resistance in immunosuppressed patients.Sulfonamid es do no affect immunosuppression.
