A patient with constipation is prescribed bisacodyl (Dulcolax). The patient also states he has severe abdominal pain. What is your best action?
 
  a. Administer the drug as prescribed to relieve the constipation.
  b. Ensure that the patient drinks a full glass of water with the drug.
  c. Listen for bowel sounds in all four quadrants before giving the drug.
  d. Hold the drug and contact the prescriber.
