Answer to Question 1

A SAMPLE SIZE THAT IS TOO LARGE WILL OVER INFLATE RESULTS SO THEY MAY BE STATISTICALLY SIGNIFICANT BUT NOT PRACTICALLY SIGNIFICANT. A SAMPLE SIZE THAT IS TOO SMALL WILL NOT HAVE ENOUGH POWER TO DETECT A RESULT EVEN IF IT DOES ACTUALLY EXIST.

ANY REASONABLE ANSWERS OK. EXAMPLES: 1) STATISTICAL VERSUS PRACTICAL SIGNIFICANCE; 2) MULTIPLE HYPOTHESIS TESTS BUT SELECTIVE REPORTING OF RESULTS; 3) MAKING STRONGER OR WEAKER CONCLUSIONS THAN ARE JUSTIFIED.
