Answer to Question 1

ONLY ONE OR A SMALL NUMBER OF INDIVIDUALS IS STUDIED. YOU CANNOT ASSUME THE FINDINGS CAN BE EXTENDED TO ANY PERSON OR SITUATION OTHER THAN THE ONE(S) STUDIED.

Answer to Question 2

RESEARCHERS ARE NOT REQUIRED TO INDUCE ARTIFICIAL BEHAVIOR. PARTICIPANTS ARE SIMPLY OBSERVED DOING WHAT THEY WOULD DO NATURALLY; THEREFORE THE RESULTS MAY BE MORE READILY EXTENDED TO THE REAL WORLD.

This is partially backed up by the fact that early grandfather clocks displayed IIII for the number 4 instead of IV. Early clockmakers apparently thought that the IIII balanced out the VIII (used for the number 8) on the clock face and that it just looked better.
