The scores on a midterm test in a college mathematics course were found to be normally distributed with a mean of 78 and a standard deviation of 9.
 
  a. What percentage of students scored between 69 and 96?
  b. Find the range of scores that includes the middle 50 of all scores.

Question 2

Do you believe that grain yield is correlated with the amount of fertilizer applied? If so, will the correlation be positive or negative? Explain.

a. 81.85
b. approximately 72 to 84

Answer to Question 2

yes; positive (within reason; if too much fertilizer is applied, the yields will decrease.)
