The number of books sold over the course of the four-day book fair were 194, 197, 247,
  and 76. Assume that samples of size 2 are randomly selected with replacement from this
  population of four values.

  List the different possible samples, and find the mean of each of
  them.

Question 2

Suppose that you roll a die and record the number that comes up and then flip a coin and record whether it comes up heads or tails. One possible outcome can be represented as 2H (a two on the die followed by heads).

  Make a list of all the possible outcomes. What is the probability that you get tails and an even number? What assumption are you making when you find this probability?

Answer to Question 1

Possible samples: 194-194; 194-197; 194-247; 194-76; 197-194; 197-197; 197-247; 197-76; 247-194; 247-197; 247-247;
247-76; 76-194; 76-197; 76-247; 76-76
Means: 194, 195.5, 220.5, 135, 195.5, 197, 222, 136.5, 220.5, 222, 247, 161.5, 135, 136.5, 161.5, 76

Answer to Question 2

The possible outcomes are 1H, 2H, 3H, 4H, 5H, 6H, 1T, 2T, 3T, 4T, 5T, 6T.
The probability of tails and an even number is 0.25. This assumes that all outcomes are equally likely which means that the die and the coin must be fair.

Every flu season is different, and even healthy people can get extremely sick from the flu, as well as spread it to others. The flu season can begin as early as October and last as late as May. Every person over six months of age should get an annual flu vaccine. The vaccine cannot cause you to get influenza, but in some seasons, may not be completely able to prevent you from acquiring influenza due to changes in causative viruses. The viruses in the flu shot are killed—there is no way they can give you the flu. Minor side effects include soreness, redness, or swelling where the shot was given. It is possible to develop a slight fever, and body aches, but these are simply signs that the body is responding to the vaccine and making itself ready to fight off the influenza virus should you come in contact with it.
