May 29, 1913, a riot broke out in Paris's Theatre des Champs-Elysees

Ballets Russes, Russian dance company based in Paris presenting Les Sylphides and the premier of The Rite of Spring

cat calls, hisses and boos from displeased members of the audience

Stravinsky supporters fought them

Police were called in to restore order
