called for greater resonance and color: three trombones; piccolo and contrabassoon; full horn section in the ninth as well as vocal soloists and choir

Answer to Question 2

adding verses to make the songs strophic; use the tune for a subsequent dance number; frequently repeat fragments of the song as a reprise
