 Solo voice and tapping (on table top)
 The texture is monophonic (single unaccompanied melodic line)
 The function of the beating on the table is to beat the start of each measure.

Answer to Question 2

 The beiguan ensemble on CD 2:13 is a band of wind and percussion players
 who perform outdoor ritual music, predominantly at funerals and temple festivities.
