Answer to Question 1

Western-style rock/pop used for dancing in nightclubs/discos; gamelan (percussion ensemble) music used to accompany wayang orang (elaborate dance-drama from central Java); Jakarta's own gambang-kromong (small percussion ensemble) performing at the national arts center Taman Ismael Marzuki, and so on.

Answer to Question 2

In spite of some general cultural traits shared by the many peoples of Indonesia, regional diversity makes speaking of a single, all-embracing Indonesian culture problematic. Pluralism in this context refers to many different kinds of music existing side-by side with their categories sometimes overlapping so that one kind of music may actually be found in several different categories at the same time.
