Answer to Question 1

T ransplanted Indians, many trained in music, now appear in almost every major city or university town on earth.
Children of first-generation immigrants attempt to retain their Indian-ness through cultural clubs and temples where classical Indian music and dance is studied and presented.
Various Indo-pop styles (for example, bhangra in Great Britain or tassa-beat soca in Trinidad) fuse Indian musical elements such as drone, scale, and sometimes the instruments and/or language with the beat and electric sounds of mainstream rock/pop.

Answer to Question 2

Fusion is a genre of music created out of an East/West interface and the connections between improvisation in jazz and Indian classical music. For example, for the past thirty years, outstanding Indian musicians such as the tabla (Indian drum) player Zakir Hussain have worked with American/European jazz and rock musicians.
