  • India's classical music is said to originate in the priest's chanting of the Vedas and the performing arts are believed to be a gift of the gods.

  • The four Vedas, sacred books of prayers, incantations, and ritual are still chanted today. Prototypes of the Hindu gods appear in these texts . . .
