Answer to Question 1

 His parents bought him musical instruments and encouraged him in his musical interests. He later played the guitar on street corners and was influenced by various blues artists.

 What . . . is the relationship between the song and the singer? That is, to what extent is the singer singing about his or her own personal experience?
