Answer to Question 1

After studying drumming for an extended period with his father, he was sent to learn drumming from a teaching-father. Through a period of master-apprenticeship, Mr. Lunna continued his studies of the drum with his teaching-father, Mba Ngolba. The relationship between Mr. Lunna and Mr. Nbolba was indeed like father and son, so deep that when Father Ngolba died, instead of the usual custom of burying the luna in the grave of the deceased drummer, Mr. Ngolba had insisted that Mr. Luna have his personal luna. (See photo of Mr. Lunna holding the frame of Mr. Ngolba's luna, Figure 3-9, WOM p. 123.)

Answer to Question 2

Mr. Lunna was the author's drumming teacher. Currently, Mr. Lunna makes his living as a drummer, farmer, and teacher.

There can actually be a 25-hour time difference between certain locations in the world. The International Date Line passes between the islands of Samoa and American Samoa. It is not a straight line, but "zig-zags" around various island chains. Therefore, Samoa and nearby islands have one date, while American Samoa and nearby islands are one day behind. Daylight saving time is used in some islands, but not in others—further shifting the hours out of sync with natural time.
