 the value of Navajo songs is in their power to heal and bring prosperity, thereby giving leadership within the community to the singers of these songs.

Answer to Question 2

 Navajo hymn music shows the outside influence of Christian religion and missionaries.
 This music has few of the features of traditional Navajo music.
 However, the sound of Navajo accent, along with certain melodic and rhythmic shortcuts, makes Navajo listeners feel that the music is their own.
