Answer to Question 1

A delta transformer has the ends of each winding connected to each other, the wye transformer has only one end of each winding connected together at the wye point.

Answer to Question 2

A single phase AC motor as a start winding, a run winding and a rotor. The three phase motor has three equal windings in its stator and an inductive rotor.
