Answer to Question 1

Stack temperature - ambient temperature = net stack temperature

Answer to Question 2

The heat required to increase the temperature of 5 pounds of ice from 10F to

32F is calculated using the specific heat formula:

BTUs = pounds x F T x specific heat capacity in BTU per pound.

BTUs=5 lb x 22 x 0.5 = 55 BTUs

The heat required to melt 5 pounds of ice is calculated using the latent heat

formula:

BTU = weight x latent heat factor

BTU= 5 x 144 = 720 BTUs

The heat required to increase the temperature of 5 pounds of water from 32F

to 212F is calculated using the specific heat formula:

BTUs = pounds x F T x specific heat capacity in BTU per pound.

BTUs=10 lb x 180 x 1 = 1800 BTUs

The heat required to boil 5 pounds of water is calculated using the latent heat

formula:

BTU = weight x latent heat factor BTU= 5 x 970 = 4850 BTUs
The heat required to increase the temperature of a pound of steam from 212F to 242F is calculated using the specific heat formula:

BTUs = pounds x F T x specific heat capacity in BTU per pound. BTUs=5 lb x 30 x 0.5 = 75 BTUs
Finally, sum the results

55 BTUs + 720 BTUs + 1800 BTUs + 4850 BTUs + 75 BTUs = 7500 BTU

Computer programs are available that crosscheck a new drug's possible trade name with all other trade names currently available. These programs detect dangerous similarities between names and alert the manufacturer of the drug.

The human body's pharmacokinetics are quite varied. Our hair holds onto drugs longer than our urine, blood, or saliva. For example, alcohol can be detected in the hair for up to 90 days after it was consumed. The same is true for marijuana, cocaine, ecstasy, heroin, methamphetamine, and nicotine.
