Answer to Question 1

Because this system uses the main burner assembly as the ground terminal of the spark system, it is absolutely necessary that the gas burning unit be thoroughly grounded to the electrical supply ground.

Manual control for ignition and normal operation; Pilot supply, adjustment, and safety shutoff; Pressure regulation of burner gas feed;
On/off electric solenoid valve controlled by the room thermostat.
