Answer to Question 1

Generally in HVACR work mastics are used to seal large areas such as duct joints, glues are used to hold items together, and caulks are used to seal cracks.

Answer to Question 2

Seams are cut where the corners will be, allowing the ductboard to fold at the corners. V-groove, shiplap, and modified shiplap are the most commonly used joint cuts. After folding, the last corner is secured with staples and UL 181A tape.
