Answer to Question 1

It is very difficult to keep the bit aligned in the slot if a drill of power screwdriver is being used.

Answer to Question 2

Self-threading sheet metal screws must have a pilot hole drilled into the metal before these screws are used and a self-drilling sheet metal screws pre-drill the hole as the screw goes in.
