Answer to Question 1

Liquid lines may need to be insulated if they travel through an unusually hot space.

Answer to Question 2

The suction line is insulated to keep from absorbing heat from the surrounding air, reducing the system's efficiency. It is also insulated to keep moisture from condensing on the line.
