Answer to Question 1

Adding a liquid line solenoid at the outdoor unit.

Using a hard shutoff thermal expansion valve at the evaporator.

Adding a compressor crankcase heater.

Adding a compressor hard start kit.

Answer to Question 2

DC motors, AC motors, AC motors with variable frequency drives, diesel engines, gas turbines, and steam turbines.
