What is subcooling?

Why should refrigerant lines or condensate plumbing be installed in a chase or conduit if they are to be under a poured concrete slab?

Answer to Question 1

Subcooling is the lowering of a liquid's temperature below its saturated liquid pressure.

Answer to Question 2

To protect the lines from physical harm and to keep the copper tubing from contacting the concrete which can corrode the copper tubing.
