Low refrigerant pressure and temperature can drop below freezing, freeze the water in the condenser, and damage the condenser.

Answer to Question 2

A fusible link is a small one time use device that is wired in series with the heating element. Because the opening function of fusible links is based on the melting temperature of an alloy, they are highly reliable overload protectors.
