Answer to Question 1

To prevent acetone from being pulled out of the cylinder.

Answer to Question 2

The discharge air sensor lets the zone control know temperature the supply air is. If the air temperature drops to a point where the coil could freeze, the zone control will then cycle the compressor off. If the supply air starts to get too warm, the zone control will cycle the burners off. Some systems also use the discharge air sensor to stage the heating and cooling equipment.
