Answer to Question 1

The bypass plug should be removed for a 1 pipe system and in place for a two pipe system.

Answer to Question 2

Those that rely on heat in the air to evaporate the water, such as atomizing and evaporative humidifiers; and those that supply their own energy for evaporating the water such as vaporizing and steam humidifiers.
