This method allows for less soldered or brazed joints.

Answer to Question 2

With a fan assisted type furnace there will be an air proving switch and a combustion air blower motor relay. On a call for heat from the thermostat the blower initially starts. There will be approximately a 45 second pre-purge before the module begins the pilot ignition sequence.
