Answer to Question 1

Gas leaves the burner orifice as a jet that enters in the center of the burner venture. Primary air is sucked in by the velocity of this gas stream. The gas and air mix in the venture and travel into the main burner body. Here, the gas-air mixture slows down and expands to fill the chamber. The mixture leaves through the burner ports where it is ignited.

Answer to Question 2

If the burner fails to light or the flame sensor fails to detect a flame after the gas is turned on for a few seconds, a safety lockout will occur to stop the flow of gas.
